Panama Canal history has created a history in transforming one of the excellent human endeavors into reality with the magnificent completion of this inter ocean canal in 1914. There are few others to name such as the Great Wall of China, the Egyptian pyramids and the trans-continental railroads. Though these are significant geographical features, they have not accomplished any incredulous activity like the one that Panama Canal history has created by splitting continents. Though this was a division of continents, Panama Canal served as an essential link globally. United States achieved this marvelous success by overcoming various hurdles while constructing and today it is seen as one of the engineering marvels of the contemporary world. This is known as Panama Canal history as it is a record of constructing a bridge for nearly 87 years.

Panama Canal history began with Columbus and then many sailors and Napoleon III of France repeatedly attempted but failed. Ultimately, Ferdinand de Lesseps, a star of the Suez Canal proceeded in convincing people about Panama Canal construction. The stock for his new project on Panama Canal construction raised hardly 30 million francs in request of 400 million francs only. The construction began in 1882 and the company faced severe hurdles mainly due to finance. Unforeseen setbacks grabbed in the form of various diseases and the volcanic area was reluctant for the French shovels. They opted for dynamiting as suggested by Philippe Bunau Varilla who later took an active part in this canal construction.

In 1885, terrific problems were encountered and in 1889 Lesseps Company was liquidated. 1894 saw a New France company laid hands on the canal project and found it to be an unmanageable feat and sold it to the United States. Two foreign advisors William Nelson Cromwell and Philippe Bunau Varilla worked and employed their personal fortunes and were fortunate enough to get support from senators. Later the Spooner Act raised funds and Roosevelt tried many engineers but all went in vain.1908 saw alterations in the canal design and the successful accomplishment was in1914. Today this is an exceptional canal and is a never ending tale, the Panama Canal history.

Panama Canal saw its completion with killer diseases, impossible excavations, extremely high costs and at last saw a novel pathway for an ever changing human race.
